Knoppix file size limit?

3.7 - the latest it appears.

SimplyMEPIS seems to suffer the same fate running 2.6.7. Including 
Roger's gzip idea.

I'm beginning to wonder if this is a Samba problem on the sending end. I 
know this Samba server has no problem with large files. I'm mounting 
like this:

mount -t smbfs //dorcas/public /mnt/public

Any way to improve on that?
