With great respect, I have heard this a number of times before. In each 
instance it was followed by a period of remorse and frenzied reconstruction. 
One of the 10 great laws of computer security... Any time you are confident 
of a box is bulletproof, it probably isn't.

Perhaps you are the exception to this rule, but it would be useful to check 
anyway. Are you running (and logging) a firewall? Are you running Tripwire - 
what does it say?
