DSL-604+ closed ports

I've just upgraded my ADSL which required a new modem from my ISP, a 
D-Link DSL-604+. After chatting with D-Link I was told that Telus had 
them close off all ports except 81. Using the web interface to set up 
dmz or virtual hosts has no effect, the ports remain closed (for 
incoming) Using my old ADSL modem The ports are open unless I choose the 
block them via firewall rules. This then tells me that the ports are not 
blocked at the ISP but in the adsl modem.  I know that there is a way to 
login to this modem via its rs-232 connector which requires a password. 
Does anyone on these list have any experience with D-Link firm-ware, how 
do I unlock these ports.  We have these adsl modems at work that were 
not modified for Telus and I have the control as to which ports are open 
or closed through the web interface, not so on these Telus hacked crap. 
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
