DSL-604+ closed ports

I've just upgraded my ADSL which required a new modem from my ISP, a
D-Link DSL-604+. After chatting with D-Link I was told that Telus had
them close off all ports except 81. Using the web interface to set up
dmz or virtual hosts has no effect, the ports remain closed (for
incoming) Using my old ADSL modem The ports are open unless I choose the
block them via firewall rules. This then tells me that the ports are not
blocked at the ISP but in the adsl modem. I know that there is a way to
login to this modem via its rs-232 connector which requires a password.
Does anyone on these list have any experience with D-Link firm-ware, how
do I unlock these ports. We have these adsl modems at work that were
not modified for Telus and I have the control as to which ports are open
or closed through the web interface, not so on these Telus hacked crap.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
