RAID fs opinions wanted

I am rebuilding a server.  We use a RAID mirror.  The old admin is of the 
opinion that the drives are mirrored so we don't need a journaling fs.  The 
advantage of RAID is that you can use ext2, which is faster.

I have never really thought out the issue, but, in my hindbrain I kinda think 
that if the ext2 fs gets borked, you have two copies of a borked fs to fix.

So the question is:  Does the RAID make a material difference to the choice of fs?
