upgrading glibc on COL 3.1

I rebuild glibc with --enable-add-ons=linuxthreads.
rpm -i now works.
But checkinstall (1.5.2,1.5.3,1.6.0beta) still failed.
I guess my plan to upgrade the glibc on my old COL should be put on hold.
