One major advantage of the HP printers is that they are designed so that
they work well even if used infrequently.  I probably use my HP Photosmart
once or twice a month, and have never had problems with ink drying up or
printing problems from lack of use.

Frankly I gave up trying to get my HP Photosmart and Scanjet scanner
working reliably on Linux, and use them from my G4 running OS X where
they're available from the Linux systems via CUPS.
