I've heard great things about 'rcconf'. It supposedly has a really nice
curses interface for managing startup links. I've been meaning to give
it a try but haven't gotten around to it yet.
sudo apt-get install rcconf
sudo rcconf
So far I've been doing mine by the manual method of just removing links
by handl.
