You might be better to dd the image, then gzip it and send it.  That
will grab the whole image, bit-by-bit so the floppy can be completely
recreated.  Otherwise Rick's left having to "make" it bootable.

dd if=/dev/fd0 of=COLbootFloppy.img

Then Rick does:

dd if=COLbootFloppy.img of=/dev/fd0

and he's in business.
