Zaurus and Linux

Anyone sync-ing a Zaurus with Linux?  
I'm running into some issues with getting my Zaurus SL5000D to even accept the 
USB address assigned by hotplug (with a -71 error in the /var/log/messages).

Anyone's help is welcome.  I won't bother with the details if no-one has 
experience.
