Dave Jones' (hint, he works for RH, and on FC, so he has a bias) latest
blog entry discusses the biggest pain points of some of the more popular
distros and desktop technologies:
http://www.livejournal.com/users/kernelslacker/31234.html
and he actually is basing his comments off of this:

I'd have to say I agree with most of his points, although I don't
understand the furor against ndiswrapper. I use it on one of my boxen
at home, and it 'just plain works'(tm). Sure, it would be great not to
need ndiswrapper, but bashing a solution to a problem is not in anyone's
best interest.
As for video/X issues, yes KDE is an eye candy/resource hog, but then
again so is M$-Vista (from what i've seen, and been told, i'm trying not
to go near it if i can avoid it). And yes, proprietary/binary X drivers
lead to problems, but I don't see that changing any time soon (if
ever). The people spending the overwhelming majority of money on
highend videocards don't care that the drivers are closed source.
If/when that changes either because they start complaining, or just take
their money to open source solutions, then we'll see open source drivers
from the likes of ATI & NVIDIA.
