Thought I would post to the group and friends:
We survived katrina. House has some roof damage (shingles).
2 large trees down in yard and destroyed fences.
Since We are right next to a sub-station at the office / building, we have power
here at least. We are cleaing and packing up as much here so 14 - 18 family
members / friends can stay here.
Checked in at my house last night, at 8 PM, temperature was 92 inside with 80%
humidty.
There are no generators to be had (except for big $$$ ones and scaplers).
We will be without power for at least 2 weeks they say, and very few gas stations
are open. Those Gas stations opened, have at least 2 hour wait lines.
Have stood in line side by side with several people from New Orleans Area. They have
nothing left they have said. At least We still have homes around here. They have
said there is nothing left of I-10 and several other highways. They also have said
the levee's are not really being breeched, but selectively blown by the
Corps' of Enginners to prevent all the levee's from rupturing.
It is unbelievable the tree damage. 200 Year old Oak trees uprooted and THROWN
across houses/roads. City of jackson has started water rationioning
Everthing seems disorganized, they have sent all Power & Light people down to the
Gulf Coast and N.O. area, but they are doing nothing, because they cannot get in
till flood waters receed and roads are cleared, which could take a week they say.
Well that's news on this front.
Thanks to all for remebering us ..
