Sometimes "common sense" is an inadequate tool to solve a complex
problem. Were we to rely only on "common sense", the quantum mechanics
required to understand the processes going on in the semiconductor
materials inside that CPU inside your linux box would not have been
understood. And you'd be sending your messages via Morse code.
