Rick,

Please provide us some background information, i.e., distribution, version,
etc.

I'm using a oo office packaged for Debian. The Debian packager has backported
CUPS support from oo office 2.0, so my oo office now uses CUPS to print.
Earlier versions and, to my limited knowledge, non-Debian version still
provide their own print engine and ppd's. What's your situation?

Another thought is to check your local ~/.* configuration files. In particular
you might check ~/.openoffice/usr/psprint files, and ~/.padminrc files. I had
a printing problem a few months ago that was driving my nuts, until I
stumbled across one of these that had incorrect settings.

Finally, there's always http://www.linuxprinting.org/ According to their
database entry for the HP Business Inkjet 1100 it works "perfectly" which
would indicate that you've got a configuration problem, or else the wrong
driver.

This sort of thing is one reason I finally ditched my HP inkjet printer and
went to a laser printer with native PS support.

HTH's!
