I dont think this is what he meant: he wants to run a P4-based board in a
chassis who's manufacturer only talks about Xeon-based boards.
I think the OP needs to look at the board specs (form factor: ATX?
eATX?) and the processor type (certain processors need very large
heatsinks to operate) to determine if the board fits the case. He will
need to determine if it will fit in a 1U or 2U (or more?) case.
Even though 1U looks nicer, the advantage with 2U cases is that they will
take standard PC power supplies and other components (thus they are
cheaper to maintain).
Im currently in the process of rebuilding a server into a new case, I
chose the SuperMicro SC822S-400LP (they are a solid manufacturer and the
case comes with a SCSI hot-swap backplane - its pricey but with the
backplane it works out cheaper).
