pdf file question

Odd. I have Reader 5.0.9 on Linux as well. I loaded them again and
Reader complains:

There was an error opening this document. The root object is
	missing or invalid.

Perhaps a bad install of acroread here? Running:

	md5sum /usr/X11R6/bin/acroread

gives

	566b7f0a35a12c9b4ad4140fd4cdf0e0 /usr/X11R6/bin/acroread

And running:

	md5sum kickstart.pdf

gives

	41a1526a116fe1210e39f90c78351f2d kickstart.pdf

Look familiar?
