This will probably screw up the threading, but I thought a cross-post
to show how the hard-core "I'm a gentoo super-admin; noobs can go
hang" types feel about the new installer would be worth a read.

jeah, but graphical installation methods tend to attract idiots.
It is worse enough that total linux noobs try to install gentoo because it is
'cool', fail and spam the forums and mailing lists with their complaints.
Up until now, the installation method was a kind of a filter. People to stupid
or to lazy to get through it, are also to stupid or lazy to have a running
gentoo in a healthy condition.
Aren't there enough stupid CFLAGS/USEFLAGS/'idiotdidnotread' threads?
Do we really want more?
Why not let the masses play with MEPIS or ubuntu? They want newbies which are
unable to read and ask the same questions again and again and again. Or
Xandros.
There are more than hundred distributions out there. Most of them are
newbiefriendly and much more fitting then gentoo. Then by bend backwards to
please this people?
But with a automated graphical installer, the idiots will come in waves.
Thanks to, for this most unwanted feature.
(I remember a poll. Most people one third wanted a graphical installer, two
thirds not, so why? WHY?)
