Fewer problems, such as bugs. I'm able to compile in DRI for Savage chips with 
xfree sources, not xorg... There's more. Xorg has just been found to have a 
number of vulnerabilities that don't exist in xfree, etc., etc.

I suppose that one day, soon, xorg will sort out their teething problems, but 
till then the whole project should be considered beta level code... Not for 
me.
