it surely did. took some tweaking, but i get 2000fps in gears, which is 
not world-record stuff, but it will keep the gl xscreensavers from 
spasming.

now i've got to sort out how to remap the buttons on my kensington 
expert mouse trackball. the bottom two of the four behave like normal 
left-right mouse buttons, but the top two (which used also to act like 
left-right mouse buttons) behave, um, oddly. sometimes both act like a 
center button; sometimes each does something different, and sometimes 
they do whatever is most inconvenient to me at the time.

or i could go upstairs and watch the new cd set of the first season of 
"northern exposure." i taped all 107 episodes of the series on vhs, so 
i'm hoping the other seasons come out on cd, too -- best show ever, 
imho.
