3-d in multihead vid card

greets, everybody!

due to a bizarre set of events -- tree came down on wires, apparently
during some sort of write, resulting in most of my /usr getting
scrambled, best i can figure out, and causing my 19" sony monitor to
let the smoke out -- i've had to reinstall (suse-9.1 with the kde-3.3.1
update) and have acquired a nifty 23" sony lcd screen. which means
among other things that my old XF86Config doesn't work anymore.

i used sax2 to cook up the proper modeline for the monitor (it's
1920x1200). all of which is prologue.

sax2 won't let me configure hardware GL, claiming that it cannot be done
with a multi-head card. (mine's a radeon 9000.) thing is, i have very
happily used hardware acceleration with this card for well over a year.
so it *can* be done.

i just can't remember/figure out how to do it.

bonus question: this thing allows a dvi input, and the vid card has a
dvi output, and i intend to hook it up today, because i understand it's
head and shoulders above analog. anybody know if there are special
configuration tricks on the xfree side in connection with this, or can
i expect to attach the cable, set the monitor to use that input, and
have it simply work? (i'm trying to remember the last time something
simply worked.)

thanks.

Liberalism has been degraded into liberality. Men have tried to turn
"revolutionise" from a transitive to an intransitive verb.
