|
|Not neccesarily. Some people think oracle is great until they start
|having to maintain it.

No arguments there.

|No where did I say anything about a gentoo list. I said seraching for
|'gentoo' on metalink, oracle's official support website, which is the
|only place that you can download any oracle patchsets, in addition to
|submitting support requests, bug reports, etc.

Then I misread your comment. But folks trying to run Oracle on
something not approved by Oracle then expecting support aren't very
bright. You can't expect Oracle to train support folks to support every
iteration of every distro out there. That would be true for any package
as complicated as Oracle.

|
|I'm well aware of what is required to run oracle on linux. I'm
|unfortunately responsible for maintaining several 9iR2 servers. I
|didn't realize that this was going to become a pissing contest.

I too support Oracle installations, albeit reluctantly.

You're the only one pissing here. I only said Oracle can be run on
other than RH. And it can. Oracle isn't fun on RH, it's less fun on
anything else, but it will run if ... (long laundry list deleted).

I've always said, and will continue to say: Linux is linux no matter
the distro name.

Ciao,
