I use textmaker on my linux box (for perhaps a year or so) and like it. 
  It's been awhile since I fussed with the license;  the e-mail that I 
received from them says that when you start it for the first time, it 
asks you for your name, e-mail address and serial number.  They were 
supposed to have sent you all of this stuff by e-mail, which I just 
pasted into the various text fields.

Yeah, that seems to be one of their weaknesses.  I found one particular 
tech support guy that I could get to respond dependably, but who knows 
if he's still there.
