1) People who make these statements are generally clueless.
2) People who make these statements have no idea what goes on behind the
monitor and mouse and neither know, nor appreciate, the structural
differences.
3) They are to be pitied and tolerated in much the same way as you would
a slow child. It's not their fault, really - Bill Gates has stunted
their brain.
