Grub woes

Folks,

My brother installed Debian on a system and installed GRUB as the boot
loader.  While I was in updating everything, the power went down.

Now, this is what he sees:
GRUB Loading stage1.5.

GRUB loading, please wait...
Error 22

then stops.  Can't boot _anything_.  Anyone know how to fix this?

Gotta get LILO installed ASAP.
