Irritating disk noise ...

I have a box sitting here with dual SCSI drives and FC1 on it. 
Something is regularly poking at the hard drives so I'm constantly 
having to listen to this:

bumpety-bump.......bumpety-bump.......bumpety-bump.......
bumpety-bump.......bumpety-bump.......bumpety-bump.......
bumpety-bump.......bumpety-bump.......

Interval is about 5 seconds or so.

Is there any nifty tool that will tell me what process is the culprit 
that won't leave the disks alone (the box is  utterly idle).
