Convert Excel to CSV

I've been doing this as well.  The issue I've run into and would dearly
love the (most likely simple and obvious) solution too is, When I export
spreadsheets, xls, to cvs using OO, the numeric contents of the cells are
placed with double quotes ".  I'd like to remove the quotes but lack the
traing, and mostly the time to fiddle.  Is there some group of scripts,
awk, su, regular expressions, or perl that do this sort of thing?
