Well, I fooled around with the wiring. I have got three
computers lined up in a row on the floor, two are identical
linspire boxes. I use all three using a switch box.

Turns out, although I use box3 for all my routine work,
including playing mp3's, I had a wire going from the sound
card of box3 to box2, and ran the speaker wires from box2
to the speakers. Sound confusing? There must have been a
reason for this at one time (like, I used to play mp3's
on box2 also). So, I ran the speaker wires straight from
box3 to the speakers, and the static has gone away.

I don't know enuf about electricity to even make a
guess why the mouse click during acroread was stopping
the static.

Well, at least it works.
