basic arts question

Hi;

I'm trying to learn arts so that I can use it to record sound input from 
my sound card Soundblaster Live.
I'm expecting to find a "module" in arts which would be the output from 
kmixer which I could then wire to the recorder or though other 
processing.  But I can't find such a thing.
Is there a basic procedure for getting the output from kmixer into arts?
