Problem with an rpm on a deb system

I tried to install IBM"s Homepage builder on my system, and found
it won't work under my system.  I am unable to remove it properly, and
when doing an apt-get install, I always get Errors were encountered
while processing:
 hpbuilder
 hpbuilder-docs
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
this is part of the program.

How do I correct this?
