What if you comment out the VideoRam section?  I know with my boxes that
use the i810 driver, if I try to specify the RAM, it always blows up and
won't do more than 640x480 at 8bpp.

What happens if you remove the entire '8' subsection above?

Also, havce you checked the XFree86 log to see if there are any errors?
