geater program crashes

Hello, I'm new to linux and have some troubles. I'm running Fedora Core 1 on
a dual boot machine (with WinXp). On start Fedora is supposed to open KDE.
One day I pressed Ctrl-Alt-Del on Fedora becuse it lookes like it was not
working (don't say anything... I'm still used to Windows).  From that day on
KDE doesn't start.
        At the beginning I got a "no write access to .ICEauthority" message.
I solve this with chmod. But now, when I start the computer a message says
"The greater program appears to be crashing. I will atempt to use a
different one". This message used to appear after the write access one.

Does anyone have an idea on how to solve this ?? I'm sure there's a way
other than reinstall everything (again, I am still used to Windows).
