The ONLY problem with the source code on that link is... it is NOT compatible 
with xfree86 4.3.0... which was the target of my SXS. If you want a really 
good S3 DRI solution, follow my SXS and it will not only run with 4.3.0 but 
also "reportedly" with 4.2.0 also. I haven't done the 4.2.0 test personally, 
but it was reportted successfully from a guy I was trading emails with.

Look at the dates, the code on the cvs server is much more recent anyways...
