Yea, i've found 2.6.x to be extremely sensitive to glibc & gcc versioning.
I've gone through several rings of hell getting it to compile successfully
on some of my boxes.
Perhaps if you post your config file we might be able to offer
suggestions? Which distro are you using anyway?
