The Debian security updates are reportedly kept current, but since I
don't run a server this is of little interest to me.
What particular apps do you need to be cutting edge? Obviously this is
a matter of personal needs. I do not update willy nilly because I
don't have broadband, and because what I need to runs fine and gets my
work done. I am deliberately not updating because having functional
Paradox and QuattroPro (via WPO2KL) is more important to me than having
the absolute latest glibc 2.3.2, which as I mentioned earlier is poison
to WPO2KL.
Libranet earns its keep on my machines (and a few of my $ for its
makers) by coming out from time to time with a well assembled distro I
do not have to piece together or futz with interminably to get to work.
I have expectations from my experience with Caldera eDesk 2.4 that, so
far, only Libranet meets.
