DNS and hosting question

I am just an amateur but here is what I know.
I run a web page on my home computer, just for fun. I use
register.com to host my domain name, since my IP changes about once
every six months. Requests for my domain name resolve to
my home IP address. However, I can have additional IP
addresses under my same domain name. So, if I wanted,
they would allow other.domainname.org to be sent to
another IP address. eg.
domainname.org 68.32.32.1
xyz.domainname.org 120.32.17.1
would be possible at register.com.
My email
whomever at domainname
gets retained on the register.com mailserver until I pop it.
So, it sounds like what you want to do is quite possible.
You might even run a name server at your company and be
responsible for your domain name.
