When I first did the install, I was using ACPI, which is what SUSE 9 likes
to set up. Then I had the freezes. I then did a re-install without ACPI,
which SUSE 9 offers as an install option. The runtime freezes went away.
What remains are the freezes I mentioned earlier when I shut down the system
of do virtual terminal switches (direct or via a program).
