remote access in MS XP

No the question is not linux, but the list is cross OS, so please do not
mail the windows wail.

What I need to know, knowing so little about M$ is : A good friend needs to 
allow
someone "remote access" and raise invoices. What I do not know is does MS have
an secure socket layer or something like it.
