I eventually got it to work by uninstalling some things I could do
without (krusader, OOo 1.0.2) and allowing apt-get to re-install some
things it could find (k3b, koffice, and various libraries).

Other than these aggravations in getting it to install, the experience
with KDE 3.2 is so far very positive.

The reports of it being faster are not exaggerated. Konq fairly flies
onto the screen now. Everything feels more crisp. Even non-KDE apps seem
to load faster, if that can be possible. So far I've not experienced the
very aggravating tendency KDE had to just sit there when you click on
the K menu button. It seems to always respond now.

It scared the pants off me when a bunch of menu items I had added by
hand disappeared, but turns out they were just hidden in Red Hat's odd
menu arrangement. A bit of creative moving and renaming fixed that.

Many icons look very different so it is a bit disorienting at first.

Looks like a very worthwhile upgrade - if you like KDE as I *now* do.

Michael
