Star Office Question: Master document and footers

STAROFFICE 7 does this as expected. However, koffice does not.

My only problem with this is that the chapter numbers are not progressing
properly through the chapters. They can go from 1 to 2 to 3, and then
restart at 0. For the life of me I cannot see why. I have done everything in
my known power to make the individual chapter files the same. (Via
Format->styles->load)  However, the pages and table numbers do work
correctly. I expect a bit of negative transfer from FrameMaker, where you
could select which numbering continues from the previous doc in the book and
which restarts for the doc. I do not see ONE place where I can control this
in SO. Chapter numbering is an outline feature, so it is partially
controlled there. In addition, the chapter paragraph tags have an additional
set of numbering properties. Which is dominant? I think it is more a mater
of bad documentation in who controls what and what options there are in
master documents.

Also, if I add an item to the index, only those occurrences in that file are
included in the index, not all of them in all docs in the the master doc. I
have not spent enough time with this problem to see if it is just my
mistake.
