The same country is no guarantee.  From the west coast of Canada I've
talked to folks from Quebec (French) and the east coast (some very
different brand of English) that I had a tough time understanding.

One of the funniest little cross-language fumbles was a french woman
saying a certain increasing number had to "excrement by one". (though in
that case I had no trouble understanding what she meant)
