Also, remember that Linux 2.6 is supposed to include a new threading 
model which will make Java run better on it.  For some time, the Winlose 
variants of the JVM have outperformed the Linux-JVM's.  They've improved 
considerably, though, so much that the worst one of the pack 3-years ago 
(BlackDown Java) is now one of the leaders for Linux... and Sun has 
chucked it's own efforts and adopted BlackDown.
