./configure error

Geezz.......

Just for the record, if you are trying to apt-get install
imagemagick, and are getting dependency errors, try
installing the rpm version of imagemagick.

No matter if at the end of your make install nothing from
the imagemagick package works. No X11 apps and the command
line programs can't find any delegates.

Then aptget-install imagemagick. And, all works. convert
-comment now replaces the old comment with the new comment,
rather than appending the new comment.

Just don't ask me why any of this had to happen.

Of interest, trying to install the previous version of
imagemagick from the lindows warehouse, which USED to work,
now fails with some dependency problem.

This took me about 4 hours to "figure out." Now to go
reinstall gimp, since apt-get remove imagemagick removed
gimp, too, for reasons that are not obvious to the casual
observer. At least xv is an rpm package, and won't get
removed against my will. Both the rpm package and the
debian package were 5.5.7.

Sometimes you just gotta wonder.

P.S. If you go this route to install imagemagick, be sure
to remove the /usr/local/bin binaries put there by the rpm
package. I also put the /usr/lib path into my ld.so.conf
during this hassle, which may have helped, too. Now to go
comment my pictures of Hiwaii. You can see a small sample
