Tax Filing (was Re: App Question)

Note that it says it requires either IE 4.0 or higher, or Netscape 4.07, 
and Acrobat Reader.  So recent versions of Mozilla or Netscape on Linux 
should do.  Though maybe not.  A friend of mine did hers last year online 
with Mandrake 8.1 and Konqueror.  (I assume Konqueror, as she generally 
preferred it to Mozilla.)

The same company has a download-and-install.  It's Windows-only, but 
probably more likely to run under wine than the big two.  I tried last 
year, but gave up and ran it on my Win 98 laptop, but I wasn't very 
motivated as the deadline was coming.  I just noticed now they seem to 
offer state in the online version, which I don't think they used to.  They 
aren't clear on whether you can actually do the state online or if the 
advertised $7.95 just gets you the state download--doubtful, as the state 
download is $12.95 by itself.

Since either the downloaded program or the online version are free for just 
Federal without e-file, you lose nothing but your time by trying.
