Friday afternoon question dumping boot screens

A while back I installed bootsplash on a Gentoo box. There was a blurb about
being able to press some key during boot and have the current frame buffer
dumped to a file. I did not think I would have need of that so I ignored the
details. Lo and behold, the Gentoo folk have reorganized this info and I do
not seem to see it.
My real question is if anyone knows if SuSE 9 has this functionality
enabled. And, if so, what the key press to dump the frame buffer is.
TIA
