"Over here"... beta one was a bit of a hassle to compile. However beta 2 has
been a dream. It compiled from start to finish with zero problems. Even
better then 3.1.5....
Yes, it's much faster. The speed of the beast out weighs any problems it
currently manifests. Which brings up the bugs I've turned up... Sound support
is a mysterious thing in this KDE version. For the most part, it works.
However, on odd occasions, when playing system notifications... the sound
will start loud, very loud, and then fade to normal levels before it
finishes. Really odd... it's like someone is sliding the volume bar.
As for supporting "legacy apps"... XMMS will no longer work with the new ARTS
sound package. Hopefully, there will be a new release of the xmms-arts driver
package to fix this someday.
That said, it's really worth looking into.
