KDE Panel

As I experiment with the KDE Panel, it appears to have become ill. I have 
added some applications (News Ticker, K-Panel icon) that I cannot remove, nor 
can I resize the panel which appears to have added a child segment.  Right 
clicking on icon, selecting Remove does nothing.  It freezes up and I have to 
right click on Desktop and select Logout.  In Googling this problem I saw 
several screenshots which, when starting Kicker|Configure Panel, there is a 
Remove pick directly below the Add pick.  I don't have a Remove option.   I 
can find nothing definitive about removing applications from the Panel other 
than statements about how easy it is to add/remove applications from the 
panel.   KDE ver 2.2-10 on RH 7.2 (2.4.7-10).  Yeah I know I should upgrade, 
but this should work.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.
