Can you try not using any of that fancy console video mode stuff?  I never
enable it at all on my kernels (just use the default), and my 3 2.6.0
boxes don't have any problems (and they're all different hardware).
Granted, i don't need any fb stuff, so if you require it, that might be
half the problem.
