I've used and installed scads of LinkSys equipment with few problems. 
Except ... their wireless routers. On other forums I frequent the 
LinkSys wireless routers are uniformly viewed as flakey. Dunno why.

You might try a firmware upgrade. Other than that I'd say try to take it 
back and trade for another brand.
