According too an article at InfoWorld
http://www.infoworld.com/article/04/01/08/HNsusesun_1.html
Sun is thinking of using something other than the SuSE Linux Desktop as
the base for their Java Desktop. Apparently old Schwartz is "disapointed
with SuSE's performance in the marketplace".
I've been a bit of a Sun fan, especially with Java but I'm starting to
think that the sun needs to set.
These morons can't keep a consistent strategy on anything except
revisionist history in the "we actually beat Microsoft at everything"
and "we're a hardware company" rants Scott gets up and does every other
day.
Its disappointing because I thought that Sun might be starting to "get
it" with the Java Desktop and their Java Enterprise System. Choice of
product name aside, I've been pretty impressed with the product. Its
clean and polished. It doesn't have loads of applications like a
standard SuSE does, but its pretty in an industrial type of way and
management's eyes don't glaze over when they start looking at it.
Oh well, hopefully Novell/SuSE/Ximian does better.
