Grr.... cups....progress

Just in case you have trouble with cups:
I had six computers recently in my home network, two
windows laptops, one windows desktop, (all XP), one old
col 2.4 box with lprng, and two uptodate lindows boxes,
one with lprng (The network print server) and one with cups
(just a client.)
Guess which box went sour on printing for no apparent
reason? Hint: The latest and greatest linux printing
system, the one with cups. With a print command, it would
give a cryptic error message (which I posted about, but
got no answer), and then printed only one page.
So, I easily replaced cups with lprng (apt-get install
lprng did all the necessary chores involved in removing
cups and installing lprng including all necessary
libraries. That's ONE command, baby!), copied the
/etc/printcap from the other linux client over to the new
client, (The second "command") ran checkpc -f (The third
command), and restarted lprng (The fourth command), and
now printing works, just as it always worked before when
I was using only lprng and not cups. Total time, about
10 minutes, mainly because I wasted time with synaptic
and the lindows warehouse, neither of which would install
lprng properly.
I hate progress, but I love debian.
