Debian as server platform?

Debian stable is a bit dated for a desktop but ideal for a server. Very 
stable and easily updated for security fixes. Slackware might be worth a 
look. It's also very stable, with up-to-date packages available, 
installs very lean, and has fairly new software for updates (swaret and 
slapt-get, similar to debian's apt-get)
